The Sangetar (loose translation: Blood Lords) are a deeply traditional tribe, committed to blood rituals in worship of The Blistered Prince. The Prince himself was said to have started their lineage with the bites awarded to the original human cultists who worshipped him, a reward for their loyalty.
The throne Yarhancor rose from the Sangetar, sharing the ancient bite heritage or bloodline connection to The Blistered Prince.
One of their number, Gergo Varga, has become a particular concern for Agent Benjamin Beezer-Green. Varga is thought to be a remarkably powerful Sangetar and among his tribe, he is believed to be a throwback to the original offspring of The Blistered Prince, the Scalds. Beyond the lineage claimed by all Sangetar, it is difficult to identify exactly what makes Varga so special, although a nickname, The Blood Caller, has been attributed to him. Beezer-Green believes Varga can communicate psychically with vampires over great distances, in the manner of stories told about some Scalds. None of this, nor the existence of the Scalds, has yet been proven, although Sangetar worship sites have featured sculptures and artworks believed to show Scalds and The Blistered Prince.
The Sangetar boast of a population of 3,000, but as with other tribes and thrones, when their numbers are scrutinised, we believe fewer than 1,000 vampires exist under their banner. The greater part of their organisation is situated in eastern Europe, with small pockets appearing in Britain on occasion. These we believe number fewer than twenty vampires, with thralls and acolytes inflating their network to around fifty members.
Sangetar have a very low tolerance of sunlight. Even at full strength, a few minutes in daylight will see them start to burn. Much longer than that is fatal to them. Silver burns them instantly, inflicting wounds that reach through the full thickness of their flesh - as if molten metal had been poured onto them. Holy artifacts cause them pain, and spiritual wards such as religious iconography from Judeo-Christian and Muslim faiths, protective circles, and certain occult inscriptions, repel or disrupt them. Buildings with religious icons about their entrances appear to have given rise to the myth that vampires cannot enter properties unless invited in. Certainly the Sangetar will not set foot on bounded, consecrated ground.
While they enjoy close ties to their Yarhancor brethren, the Sangetar hold a deep hatred of the Malkhavir, whose denial of The Blistered Prince has made them enemies.
