Greetings from Newcastle.
Busy times. Busy, busy times. But I’ve managed to do a bit of socialising too. I caught up with horror writer Iain Robb Wright last week. He’s a really nice guy, and it was great to pick his brains about being an indie author. It was refreshing to hear from someone who avoids all the dramas out there, and who has a really straightforward way of conducting his (very successful) business. Although he started out right at the Kindle boom back around 2010 and stayed consistent from there on, I think it is still possible to get there eventually. He and I agree - the key is not to keep getting distracted by social media and identity politics, and to just keep getting the words down. And that’s exactly what I’ve been doing as you’ll see in the Work In Progress section. But first…
📙 Taking Pre-Orders - The Seance Ltd Edition
The physical proof copy of The Seance limited edition paperback has arrived. And it’s great. This is the second physical proof, as the first one that arrived had an alignment and colour issue (making it a potential ultra-rare item for a collector at some point).
I have added a ‘Store’ tab to my site, but I’ll include the link below. From now until the end of the week, I’m taking orders for the Ltd Edition of The Seance. This cover-art-only edition has had something of a rewrite for this, the 10th Anniversary of the novella’s original publication. This edition is limited to 100 copies.
After this weekend, I will order stock, which I anticipate will ship about 4 weeks from now. At this stage I cannot confirm when or if (in the event that it sells out) I will offer this edition up for ordering again, so this is the ideal time to nab a copy.
At the same time, I am offering the Scattered Ashes Ltd Edition on my store.
Please note, if you upgrade to Founding Member here on my Substack, you will be eligible for a copy of each of these Ltd Edition books as long as stock remains (as well as getting a year’s access to the paid content here on the site, and any other Ltd Edition paperbacks released during your membership).
BUT, let me sweeten the pot for you. After you place your order, email me (jack@jackrollins.co.uk) with a screenshot, or forward me a copy of your order confirmation, and I will give you a free upgrade here on my Substack - one month’s access to the paid content for every book you order. Already a paid member? Doesn’t matter - it will extend your paid membership for free.
To secure your Limited Edition paperbacks…
Don’t forget, the order window will close sometime around 28th October 2024. This will help me keep order volume manageable, and after that I’ll be working on a new Kickstarter campaign for the next Limited Edition book… 🧛♂️
🖊 Work in Progress: In Quiet Courts…
…is finally written! I made some notes throughout the early drafts, and now it’s my job to work those notes in, to create the draft that will start to appear right here on Substack for paid and Founding Member subscribers. On November 5th, there’ll be a post directly linked to In Quiet Courts, revealing a short piece I wrote that helped me get into the mindset for the new book. I anticipate chapters will start to appear in early December. So, this would be a good time to…
